Don Giovanni – National Marionette Theatre, 22.June

We will be seeing a marionette performance of Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the National Marionette Theatre on the evening of June 22nd. Curtain is at 8:00p You should read the synopsis of this classic opera in your study guide so you can follow along (it’s in Italian).

Arguably the most famous opera ever written, Don G premiered in Prague at the Estates Theatre in late 1787. It is still performed there in repertory. Unfortunately for us, the last performance of the season takes the stage the night we head for Karlovy Vary (though conflicting information shows it may still be running in July). We’ll have to see if we are able to see a “live” production.
